The magic is in the making.
A magician friend once told me how much work goes into making something look impossible. Behind a few seconds of wonder might be a hundred times as much preparation. Every detail accounted for. Every possibility considered. An entire invisible world constructed so that, for one extraordinary moment, play becomes the logical next step.
I think about that a lot when I design.
To me, a product is a little world of its own. It has rules, relationships, peculiarities, and possibilities. My job is to understand those things well enough to create a space where people can enter, explore, and discover its peculiar chemistry. And if I've done my job well, they won't need to know how much work went into making it feel that way.
That's the trick, really.
I do the hard work so someone else can believe in their own magic.
